The Nazi party might have risen to power with
revolutionary violence, but their popularity had also grown through
the political system. Hitler would use massive organized rallies
to spew his megalomaniac promises and dogma to the masses.
Hundreds of thousands of people would attend
these rallies, which have been described like attending mass religious
ceremonies. Hitler would hold the people spellbound as they listened
to promises of a thousand year empire and a brave new world, a
brave new world led by an Aryan race.
Hitler was well known as a great speaker, starting
quietly and slowly he would hold the crowd spellbound as they
hung on to his every word. With the crowd under his spell he promised
and preached his vision for the future, a thousand year Reich
under Nazi rule. The Crowd, as did the populace, blindly followed
believing that Hitler and the Nazis could deliver the promises
they pledged.
With night time rallies, with torch light parades,
the Nazi's were able to create a magical atmosphere which would
engulf the participants. Hitler's speeches would always increase
the tension with his emotional rhetoric, and the crowd would be
whipped into a frenzy, sometimes reaching hysterical levels.
Hitler could entrance his audience, and the sea
of worshippers would respond by treating him like some "God"
like creature.
