The next three tracks on the album try
to reflect on the story so far, as the war moved into its final
stages. For All Our Tomorrows looks at the soldier's view
as the Allies push the Nazis back across once occupied territories,
and back across the Rhine into Germany.
Mid-August sees the Allies push on after
Falaise to create a broad front from the English Channel to the
south. Operation Anvil (Allied Invasion of Southern France) is
a success, and Paris is liberated and the French resistance rise
against the Nazi retreat. Four years of occupation under Nazi
rule is ended.
But Hitler unleashed his secret
weapons, named "Vergeltungswaffen" - Vengeance Weapons
by the Nazi propaganda machine, as his army is beaten and pushed
back. Its an attempt to turn the war around and back in favour
of the Nazis. The British people brace themselves for another
onslaught like they experienced in the Blitz, this time by the
V1 rocket, nicknamed the 'Doodlebug'.
When the threat of the V1 ceased, another
secret weapon is unleashed and this time its not only British
cities that fall victim to this unstoppable, silent and deadly
threat, Wernher
von Braun's rocket, which is better known as the V2, but
also many thousands of POW's from the slave camps that the SS
used in the production of this terror weapon.
Soldier 1: "I don't want to die!"
Soldier 2: "You might have to."
Soldier 1: "I DON'T WON'T TO DIE!!!"
Soldier 2: "You might bloody well have to chum!"
The dead zone is where they go
Scared and all alone.
The dead zone is a wasteland boys
a long way from home.
For all our tomorrows, for all our sorrows.
For all our yesterdays, and yesteryears gone by.
The wasteland is where they know
brave men turn to stone.
The wasteland is a death zone boy
a long way from home.
For all our tomorrows, for all our sorrows.
For all our yesterdays, and yesteryears gone by.
On fade out V1 'Doodlebug' sound effect
flying. Silence. Explosion of the V1 rocket.
