Russo-Finnish Pact signed in Russia.
April 9th
Germany invaded Denmark and Norway.
April 13th
The second Battle of Narvik.
May 1st
Norway surrendered to Germany.
May 7th - 8th
The British government held the 'Norway Debate' in the House of Commons.
May 10th
Germany attacked and invaded the Low Countries. Chamberlain resigned. Winston Churchill became British Prime Minister. Allied troops advance.
May 14th
Holland surrendered to German forces.
May 15th
The French are defeated at Sedan. The British retreated to Dunkirk.
May 17th
Belgium capital Brussels surrendered to German forces.
May 20th
Germans reached the coast on the English Channel, cutting off the Allied forces.
May 25th
Boulogne in France fell to the Germans.
May 26th
Calais in France fell to the Germans.
May 27th
The British and Allied armies are evacuated from Dunkirk : 'Operation Dynamo', the evacuation of British troops began.
May 28th
Belgium capitulated.
June 4th
Dunkirk fell. The evacuation of Dunkirk is terminated.
June 5th
The second major German offensive began.
June 10th
Italy declared war on Great Britain and France.
June 14th
The Nazis entered Paris, France.
June 22nd
France capitulates. Franco-German Armistice was signed in the railway carriage at Compiègne where the armistice was signed in 1918. Hitler had the carriage destroyed after the signing.
June 29th
The Nazis invaded and occupied the Channel Islands.
July 3rd
The Royal Navy attacked the French fleet at Oran and Mers-el-Kebir.
July 10th
The Battle Of Britain began. The Luftwaffe started the opening stages of 'Operation Sealion', the Nazi invasion of Britain. 'S Day' is planned for September 15th 1940.
August 12th
The Nazi air offensive against Great Britain started.
August 25th
RAF Bomber Command attacked Berlin in response to bombs dropped on London.
September 7th
Hitler ordered the Luftwaffe to target London in retribution for Berlin air raid.
September 15th
'S Day', the intended date for the Nazi invasion of Britain. The Luftwaffe were defeated and seriously mauled by the Royal Air Force over the skies of southern England. The Nazi invasion is halted.
September 17th
Hitler cancelled 'Operation Sealion'. The RAF were victorious, and Britain was saved from German invasion.
September 17th
Hitler changed tactics. The systematic bombing of British cities began. The British endure the horrors of The Blitz.

13th - 14th
The Italians invaded Egypt.
September 27th
Germany, Italy and Japan signed the Tripartite Pact.
October 28th
Italy invaded Greece.
November 5th
Roosevelt was re-elected as President of the United States of America.
November 11th
The British attacked the Italian fleet at Taranto.
December 9th
The first British offensive in the desert of north Africa.
