Jersey, USA. Aldrin made history when he became the second man
to walk on the Moon on the Apollo 11 mission, 20th July

astronaut William Pogue was born in Okemah, Oklahoma.
He served as a member of the astronaut support crews for the
Apollo 7, Apollo 11, and Apollo 14 missions. |

entrepreneur Max Valier was killed when a test went wrong and
exploded. Valier created the Verein für Raumschiffahrt
(VfR) rocket group, which included Hermann Oberth and Wernher
