cosmonaut Andriyan Nikolaev was born in the autonomous
Chuvash Republic of Russia. Nikolaev was pilot of the Vostok
3 mission, 11th - 15th August 1962.

He served as backup pilot for the Gemini 8 flight and
served as pilot for the Gemini 11 mission on 12th September
1966.

Lang's film The Woman In The Moon (Frau im Mond)
was screened for the first time in Berlin, Germany. Hermann
Oberth of the Verein für Raumschiffahrt (VfR) rocket group
was the advisor. The film foresaw many of the attributes that
would be used in future space programs.
