Robert Goddard published his research, entitled "A Method of Reaching Extreme Altitudes.", outlined the possibility of a rocket reaching the Moon.

Karol Wojtyla (Pope John Paul II) was born in Wadowice, Poland. He later became Pope John Paul II, the first Polish Pope and a religious leader to over a billion Catholics in the world. He would become the third longest serving Pope in history.

The 19th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America was ratified, giving women the right to vote.
